Shares of Reliance Power advanced more than 3% on June 30 after the company announced a strategic push into artificial intelligence (AI) and allied new age technologies through its subsidiaries. On the other hand, the benchmark BSE Sensex retreated 0.33%.

In an exchange filing, Reliance Power said it has undertaken enabling steps to incorporate AI and technology driven activities within its business framework. As part of the initiative, the company has amended the objects of certain subsidiaries to include AI and technology enabled services.

The company has also renamed four subsidiaries to reflect their new focus: Reliance AI Green Power Private Limited, Reliance AI Power Private Limited, Reliance AI Data Control Private Limited and Reliance AI Data C Private Limited

The filing did not disclose any investment size, timelines, specific AI projects or financial impact of the initiative. The company said the move is aimed at participating in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence and related technologies by integrating these activities into its business framework.

The announcement comes as an increasing number of Indian companies expand beyond their traditional businesses to tap opportunities in AI infrastructure, data management and technology enabled services. Shares of the company closed at Rs 24.84 on June 30. On the other hand, it scaled 52-week high of Rs 71.70 on June 30, 2025 and 52-week low of Rs 20.23 on March 30, 2026.
