Former Australia cricketer David Warner has found himself in an unexpected crossover between cricket, Indian cinema and artificial intelligence. An AI generated video showing Warner dancing to ‘Ala Bolelo’, a song from Rajinikanth’s upcoming Tamil film Jailer 2, has gone viral on social media. The video caught Warner’s attention too, prompting the former opener to share it on Instagram with a tongue in cheek reaction.
“Righto Who made this??” Warner wrote while sharing the clip.
Warner admitted that he did not know which song or dance was being used in the video. But instead of dismissing the AI creation, he played along with the joke. “I have no idea what song this is or what dance I’m doing but apparently Bollywood Dave has some moves,” he wrote.
He then asked his followers to rate the AI generated performance, adding: “Rate the technique out of 10.” Warner also asked the person who originally sent him the video to identify themselves in the comments.
AI turns Warner into ‘Bollywood Dave’
The video is a playful example of how generative AI is increasingly being used to place public figures into situations they were never actually part of. In this case, Warner’s digital likeness has been made to appear as though he is performing alongside the world of Jailer 2. The clip is not an actual recording of Warner dancing to the song, but an AI generated creation.
Warner’s reaction has added another layer to the viral moment, with the former cricketer himself giving the fictional character a name: ‘Bollywood Dave’.
What is ‘Ala Bolelo’ from Jailer 2?
‘Ala Bolelo’ is a song from Jailer 2, the sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster Jailer. The film is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures. Rajinikanth returns in the lead role, while the sequel also features actors including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, S J Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty and Vidya Balan. Jailer 2 is scheduled to release worldwide in theatres on October 15, 2026, according to media sources.
Why the Warner AI video matters
Beyond the humour, the clip reflects the growing role of AI in internet culture. A few years ago, putting a famous sportsperson into a film song would have required professional editing, visual effects or a physical appearance. Today, generative AI can create convincing digital versions of public figures and place them in entirely new settings.
Warner’s response also shows how celebrities can choose to engage with such content when it is clearly intended as entertainment. For now, at least, ‘Bollywood Dave’ appears to be enjoying his unexpected film debut — even if the dance was created by AI.
