Best Buy India GCC transitioning to TCS through an AI focused technology and innovation partnership
Best Buy’s India GCC is set to transition to TCS and evolve into an AI native capability centre.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Best Buy have announced an agreement to transition Best Buy’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India to TCS. Under the agreement, Best Buy India’s technology capabilities will be integrated into TCS, combining the GCC’s deep retail and enterprise expertise with TCS’ technology, engineering, artificial intelligence and global delivery capabilities. The partnership is aimed at accelerating innovation, scaling AI-powered solutions and creating greater business value for Best Buy.

As part of the transition, the Best Buy India entity will move to TCS while continuing to support business operations. It will gradually transform into an AI-native Capability Centre (AICC) under a multi-year agreement.

Using TCS’ Global Value & Innovation Centres framework, teams will redesign workflows, develop AI-powered products and experiences, and scale these capabilities across Best Buy’s business. The centre is expected to evolve into an AI-focused capability hub over time.

“Best Buy has built a strong technology organisation with deep knowledge of its customers and business. By bringing that talent together with TCS’ retail expertise, AI, engineering and global execution capabilities, we will create an AI-native capability engine that aligns with Best Buy’s priorities,” said Krishnan Ramanujam, President, Consumer Business Group, TCS.

He added that the partnership could create a repeatable value platform that may benefit the wider retail industry.

“Our India team has played an important role in advancing Best Buy’s priorities, and we wanted a partner that understood both the business context and the value of this team,” said Ahrey Smith, Vice President of Technology Strategy and Transformation, Best Buy.

“TCS brings that understanding, along with the technology and AI capabilities to build on the team’s strengths and meaningful opportunities for employees to continue learning and growing in their careers,” Smith added.

Under the agreement, Best Buy India employees will join TCS’ global organisation. TCS said this will help preserve their existing business and technology expertise while giving them access to its global learning and innovation ecosystem, AI skills and opportunities across its international operations.

The partnership also highlights TCS’ broader GCC strategy, covering the creation and scaling of capability centres and their transformation into AI-led technology and innovation hubs.
